About ARTS Senior Animal Rescue

Founded in 2010, ARTS Senior Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of senior cats and dogs across Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer. Their mission is clear and close to the heart: to give overlooked senior animals a second chance at life by ensuring no pet is forgotten simply because of their age.

By operating as a completely shelter-free organization, ARTS places every rescue in a carefully vetted foster home until the perfect forever family is found. Funded entirely by donations, their dedicated volunteer team works tirelessly to cover the medical and dental needs of every animal in their care — making sure each senior pet receives the love, comfort, and dignity they deserve in their golden years.

The Impact of ARTS Senior Animal Rescue’s Work

Here’s how ARTS Senior Animal Rescue is making a real difference for senior animals and the people who love them:

They transform lives through:

  • Rescue and Rehabilitation: Taking in senior cats and dogs from overcrowded shelters, pounds, strays, and voluntary surrenders, giving every animal the medical care and safe environment they need to heal and thrive.
  • Foster Care Network: Placing every rescue in a carefully vetted foster home where they receive love, comfort, and full medical support — all provided by ARTS — until their forever home is found.
  • Veterinary and Medical Support: Funding the full veterinary needs of every animal in their guardianship through community donations, ensuring no senior pet is turned away due to the cost of their care.
  • Adoption and Community Connection: Connecting senior animals with loving forever families through a thorough vetting process and community events, making sure every match is the right one.

A Legacy of Loving the Overlooked

ARTS Senior Animal Rescue is funded entirely on donations and is grateful for the amazing support of their ever-growing senior animal loving community. Operating across Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer, their all-volunteer team works tirelessly every single day to make sure that no senior animal is forgotten, overlooked, or left behind simply because of their age. Every month, Ãå±±½ûµØ supports a local organization that makes a difference in our communities. This March, we’re proud to support , an Alberta-based charity dedicated to creating a world in which children with heart disease, and their families, achieve an optimal quality of life.

About Children’s Heart Society

Founded in 1982 by dedicated mothers navigating their children’s heart conditions, the Children’s Heart Society has grown into a thriving, compassionate community built on hope and resilience. Their mission is simple but powerful: to ensure every child receives the best possible care and that no family faces heart disease alone.

By offering a wide range of programs, from in-hospital comfort initiatives and family connection events to teen and parent support groups, the Children’s Heart Society ensures that heart kids and their families receive the right help at the right time. Their dedicated team works closely with clients to build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to create lasting positive change.

The Impact of Children’s Heart Society

Here’s how Children’s Heart Society is making a real difference for Alberta families:

They transform lives through:

  • In-Hospital Support: Providing comfort bags with information for parents and special items for children heading into heart surgery or the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, bringing fun into the hospital over major holidays, and donating gift cards, coffee pods, and toys to children and families in the cardiac ward.
  • Family Connection and Events: Hosting events that bring heart families together – including a May Camp-out, Jasper Get-Away, Fall Picnic, and Christmas Party – where families across the province connect and build strong relationships through their shared experience of raising a child with special heart needs.
  • Parent-to-Parent Referral Program: Connecting parents in similar circumstances, or pairing those experienced with a specific condition alongside families just beginning their heart journey, offering a safe space to share concerns, frustrations, and feelings with someone who truly understands.
  • Teen and Tween Programs: Hosting dedicated events for older heart kids to keep them connected with others who share their experiences as they grow, fostering lasting friendships and a strong sense of community.

A Legacy of Hope and Strength

The Children’s Heart Society has been in operation since 1982 and in this time has helped thousands of children and families, raising almost half a million dollars for research and hospital equipment for the Pediatric Cardiology Program and related services at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. CHS volunteers have collectively donated hundreds of thousands of hours, offering hands – on support, mentorship, and advocacy for heart kids and their families throughout the Edmonton area. Their approach, rooted in compassion, community, and an unwavering commitment to every heart child’s wellbeing, continues to bring hope and strength to families facing one of life’s most challenging journeys.

Every month, Ãå±±½ûµØ proudly supports a local organization that makes a difference in our communities. This July, we’re honoured to support Alberta Lung, a charity dedicated to improving lung health for all Albertans through education, research, prevention, and advocacy.

About Alberta Lung

has been a leader in respiratory health for over 90 years. Originally founded as the Alberta Tuberculosis Association in 1939, its early efforts focused on fighting tuberculosis through public education and mobile chest x-ray units.

As respiratory health challenges evolved, so did Alberta Lung. The organization expanded its mission to address a wide range of lung diseases, including those caused by smoking and environmental factors. It supported major milestones such as Alberta’s first successful lung transplant in 1983, the discovery of the cystic fibrosis gene in 1998, and the early sequencing of the SARS virus in 2003.

In 2021, Alberta Lung became an independent organization, allowing it to focus entirely on the needs of Albertans. Today, it continues to support education, research, advocacy, and programs that help people breathe easier across the province.

The Impact Alberta Lung’s Work

Here’s how Alberta Lung is making a lasting impact across Alberta:

    • Supports individuals living with lung disease through educational resources, support groups led by certified respiratory educators, and patient care assistance including access to housing and medical equipment.
    • Offers guidance on indoor and outdoor air quality, including resources for wildfire smoke protection and DIY air cleaner instructions to help improve breathing conditions at home.
    • Provides disease-specific education and resources for conditions such as asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, and more.
    • Advocates for clean air and better lung health by raising awareness during events like wildfire smoke alerts and supporting public information campaigns.
    • Is developing Breathing Space, a unique facility designed to provide housing and support services for lung transplant recipients and their families.

Alberta Lung
From CPAP machines to caregiver support, Alberta Lung’s programs make a difference in the lives of families across the province, helping Albertans breathe easier.

Alberta Lung’s Legacy of Advocacy

Since its inception, Alberta Lung has remained steadfast in its vision of a province where everyone can breathe with ease. Whether it’s providing resources to schools and workplaces, funding life-changing research, or equipping individuals with the tools they need to manage their lung health, Alberta Lung has been a pillar of support in Alberta’s healthcare landscape.
