Wishing a very happy New Year to all! How did you enjoy your holiday? Did you have a successful year in 2022? Have you achieved the objectives set out at the start of the year? Was last year full of meaningful experiences and memories for you?

Oh, if you’re asking me, �山���� had an incredibly meaningful 2022! We have hosted twelve charity events throughout the year, making a contribution to society by raising $36,192.70 in total! This number is 28.4% greater than our effort in 2021, which was $28,180.40! We are so happy to see the dedication of people and we appreciate all the support from our customers! Thank you all, we would not have been able to achieve this success without your support!

This year, �山���� is determined to do an even better job than last year! We are excited to announce our first charity of the year—SMART Recovery! We genuinely hope this will be a wonderful start for the months to come this year.

About SMART Recovery

SMART Recovery is the world’s largest community of self-empowering, mutual support meetings, serving one million people annually in over twenty countries. SMART stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training and is a novel approach to addiction recovery. The organization is more than an acronym; it is a fresh method of transitioning from addictive substances and negative behaviors to a life of positive self-regard and willingness to change.

The core mission of SMART is to empower people struggling with addiction to live better lives. The organization seeks to support individuals in the recovery process by equipping them with the necessary tools and guidance through recovery support systems.SMART meetings provide an opportunity to create a healthier and more purposeful life. Our team is very excited to be supporting men’s health through our Charity of the Month program again this year. Last year, we were very proud to be able to donate $5965 to Movember from our November 2021 Charity Day! This is our largest Charity of the Month donation to date and is something we hope to be able to replicate this year as well. 

This upcoming Charity Day, November 24th, 2022, is our second last Charity Day of the year so we want to make it a big one. But, we can’t do it without your help.

About Movember

Movember by making men’s health information accessible, changing behaviors for the better, creating health services that work for men, uniting bright minds and passionate advocates, and listening to the community to advocate for men. 

The Movember team focuses on the three biggest health issues that men in our world face: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. By focusing on these three areas, they ensure that their impact is “significant, far-reaching, and long-lasting.” They share that “men’s health is in crisis,” and highlight that “men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, for largely preventable reasons.” 

About 10.8M men globally have had a prostate cancer diagnosis, and testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. Beyond this, every minute, a man dies by suicide, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides. 

These numbers need to change and that is exactly what Movember is fighting for and what we are proud to be donating to this month. Movember proudly proclaims that they are “doing what others can’t,” by “[uniting] experts from around the world to collaborate on projects that will fundamentally change the way men in need are treated and supported.”

We are honored to have the opportunity to support men worldwide by fighting for more accessible, more effective men’s health initiatives.

Our summer seasonal teams have been taking advantage of the great fall weather, providing as many high quality services to our clients as possible. We’re working against time at the moment and thankfully it has seemed to be on our side for the majority of the month! For our year-round and winter seasonal businesses, October and November will continue to ramp up. (Which we’re absolutely loving!)

As October is coming to a close, we’re very excited to announce that our October Charity of the Month is (DRIFCan)! 5% of the sales made by all of our home service companies on Charity Day (which is tomorrow!) will go directly to DRIFCan, supporting their cause. 

About DRIFCan

DRIFCan describes their mission as the following: 

“The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation Canada (DRIFCan) mission is to accelerate the cure for diabetes by directly funding world renowned diabetes researcher Dr. James Shapiro and his team at the University of Alberta. All funds raised stay right here in Edmonton. Our goal is to be a 90/10 foundation, where 90% of all funds raised go directly to cure based research. We are happy to report that in 2021 we were able to achieve this goal. Dr. Shapiro is well known for the , which is islet cell transplantation, and is now being done in 30 countries around the world and all those centers came to Edmonton to be trained by the team here. His latest research is now stem cell research, he is working on taking stem cells from your own blood and gene editing to become insulin producing cells. He is currently having success in mice and next steps in human trials.”

The work that are doing at the University of Alberta is changing lives across the globe. Having the chance to support this incredible initiative and help people with type 1 diabetes to have a cure is very meaningful to our team here at Mosaic.

Wow, April sure flew by, hey?! It’s crazy to think that we’re almost in the fifth month of this year already. 2022 has been exciting and lively to say the least and has brought about many achievements and celebrations for the �山���� team. One of the most consistently positive aspects of the year thus far has been our Charity of the Month program!��

In case you’re new, the Charity of the Month program that we have here at the �山���� Group of Companies helps us to give back to the community that supports us each month. Every last Thursday of the month, we donate 5% of the sales from all eight of our companies to a local charity of our choice. Each month, our office buzzes with energy as all team members work hard to make the biggest possible donation to our monthly charity of choice. 

We take suggestions for local charities from customers and partners alike and try to ensure that we are making a positive difference in many different areas of our community. Each month, we aim to make donations that will help various different underprivileged groups or philanthropic initiatives within Edmonton and the surrounding areas. About Our April 2022 Organization

Our April Charity of the Month this year is… the South Alberta Services Dog Foundation who supports ! Aspen Service Dogs is an Alberta Government Qualified Service Dog Organization that is based in Edmonton and provides “highly trained, well-behaved canines that are able to perform a variety of tasks for their human partner,” according to their website. 

Mobility, Autism, PTSD, and Facility Service Dogs can all be trained at Aspen and receive an incredibly high level of training so that they can provide the best service possible. Aspen Service Dogs provides both a Fully Trained Service Dog Program and an Owner Trained Service Dog Program and four main types of service dogs: Mobility Service Dogs, Autism Service Dogs, PTSD Service Dogs, and Facility Service Dogs. 

The team of passionate, knowledgeable trainers brings a high level of commitment and expertise and revels in the opportunity to bring helpful dogs to people in need. They have personally seen the positive impact that well-trained service dogs can make in peoples’ lives and are dedicated to continuing to change lives.

Our Connection to the Cause

Here at the �山���� Group of Companies, we love animals and are so grateful for the positive impact that they can make in peoples’ lives. The Aspen Service Dogs initiatives are close to our hearts and strongly aligns with our values. South Alberta Services Dog Foundation and Aspen Service Dogs are a perfect fit for our Charity of the Month program and our entire team is looking forward to raising money for this incredible cause. 

As a group of animal lovers who are also dedicated to making differences in our community, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with South Alberta Services Dog Foundation and Aspen Service Dogs.
