Tomorrow is Charity Day

Wow – another month has passed. It’s been a long, hot month, and we’re very excited to be celebrating our August Charity Day tomorrow!Ģż

Each month, our team comes together on the last Thursday of each month to donate to a local charity. Community investments are incredibly important to the Ćå±±½ūµŲ Group and each member of it. We love and feel so fulfilled by the opportunity to support and give back to our community each month by supporting a different local charity.Ģż

5% of all sales made by all of our home service brands on the last Thursday of August will go to Tools for School! If you have been thinking about investing in a premium home service or product through any of our brands, tomorrow’s the day to do it. By approving your quote tomorrow, you’ll be donating 5% of your purchase straight to this local initiative.Ģż

We post a new blog post each month that highlights our charity of the month. If you haven’t had the chance to read through them, we definitely suggest taking a peek when you have a chance!

About Tools for School

Tools for School is an organization that facilitates the gathering, purchasing, and distribution of school supplies for children in the Alberta Capital Region.

ā€œUnited Way’s Tools for School aims to reduce one known barrier preventing children and youth from successful learning and participation in school. Through support of community donors and corporate sponsors, we continue to meet the needs of children and youth in our community.ā€

The need for school supplies and backpacks is as many as 1 in every 10 students. Tools for School essentially makes sure that children have access to supplies and, therefore, equal opportunity in their education.Ģż

Most schools in the Alberta Capital Region participate in the Tools for School program, making it easy for parents and guardians to access the supplies and backpacks for their children. Essentially, if your child is in need of school supplies, you simply have to let your school know that your child needs a Tools for School backpack.Ģż

If your school is not yet a part of the program, they simply have to send an email to inkind@myunitedway.ca to become a part of it. Feel free to encourage them to do so if your child is in need.Ģż

Both donations of school supplies and backpacks and monetary donations are accepted and help to bring supplies to children in need. Supplies themselves must be new or unused and must not have company logos on them (to ensure that children cannot be identified as part of this program).

For more information on high needs items and approved supply lists, please visit the .Ģż

Supporting Children’sĀ Educations

In 2021 alone, Tools for School distributed 12,589 backpacks and kits to children in need, volunteers gave 450 hours to packing backpacks, and Staples stores in the Alberta Capital Region raised more than $119,000 in support.Ģż

This year, the demand and need for backpacks, kits, and school supplies is higher than ever. By mid-August, Tools for School had already seen a for school supplies. From the hostility of the current economic climate to the many newcomers settling in the Alberta Capital Region, Tools for School is in need of a lot of support this year.Ģż

On average, each school backpack costs about $42.00 to fill. Not every child is able to start school in an equal position to their peers because their family cannot afford school supplies.Ģż

However, the money that you are able to help us donate can and will go a long way for this initiative and for these struggling families and children. Each child in our community deserves equal opportunity and equal access to education. We are very honored to be able to help with that and can’t wait to see our group of companies and our customer-base rally to do so.Ģż

Thank you for continuing to support us and, therefore, our community. We’ll see you next month for our next Charity Day!

July has been an exciting month for our team. We took time to reflect on some of our biggest achievements from the first half of 2022 and made sure to celebrate them! If you haven’t already, make sure to check out our recent blog post, Celebrating Our Wins of 2022 So Far: Ćå±±½ūµŲ Group of Companies.Ģż

Anyways… back to where we are now.Ģż

As July comes to a close this week, we have another exciting thing to celebrate – our July Charity Day! In the first half of 2022, the Ćå±±½ūµŲ Group of Companies had the pleasure of donating $17,530.19 to local charities!Ģż

That number is because of you, our valued clients. That is 5% of the money that you spent on the last Thursdays of each month in the first half of the year. That is a number that YOU should be proud of contributing to!Ģż

We can’t wait to see how much we can donate in the second half of the year.Ģż

For July, we’re very excited to announce that we will be donating 5% of the sales from the last Thursday of the month to… !Ģż

A counselling client of YWCA Edmonton shared the following quote regarding her experience with the organization:Ā

ā€œThe sliding scale is what allows me to book appointments whenever I need and not have to decide between groceries and an appointment. I’ve had really solid, helpful counselling. The support staff are lovely, kind and welcoming. I never have to feel embarrassed because I pay on a sliding scale. My counsellor has helped me so much, I can’t describe how grateful I am. Every time I’m at the YWCA I’m always treated with respect.ā€Ā

Through the variety of camps, services, and retreats that YWCA Edmonton offers, they have been able to positively impact hundreds and hundreds of lives within our local community. We strongly believe in giving back to and supporting the community in which one works and lives.Ģż

And just like that… May is almost behind us. You know what that means – tomorrow is Charity Day! After one of our largest Charity Day donations yet last month for the Aspen Dog Services Organization, we’re feeling super enthusiastic about tomorrow.Ģż

Why Do We Do Community Investments?

Before we chat about where our donation will be going this month, let’s talk about community investments as a whole. Here at The Ćå±±½ūµŲ Group of Companies, community investments are incredibly important to us. At the end of the day, we wouldn’t be where we are without the community around us.Ģż

We started our Charity Day program and community investments just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. However, we knew that this was something we were not willing to forget, even with the hardship and struggles we were facing.Ģż

Why? Because without people in our community choosing our home service brands, choosing our teams, and recommending us to their connections, we wouldn’t have been able to make it through at all. Each and every year, people in Edmonton and the surrounding areas, and people in the communities of our franchise locations continue to choose us for their home improvement and home maintenance needs.Ģż

Yes, our businesses faced challenges, however, we knew that our communities were facing them too. And, through it all, they continued to support us throughout them.Ģż

The differences that we have been able to make in our communities have been beyond inspiring and heartwarming. We’re so grateful for the amazing charities and organizations that we’ve had the pleasure of working with over the past 2 years and cannot wait to see where our Charity of the Month program goes in the future as well.

Tomorrow, May 25th, we will be donating 5% of the sales from all of our companies to… The Grit Program!

Community investments are a top priority for us here at Mosaic.

What’s The Grit Program All About?

ā€œ organization that works alongside families and community partners to strengthen the skills and confidence needed to support every child’s learning and development.Ģż

Since 1982, we’ve helped hundreds of children who have developmental disabilities become meaningful participants in their families, communities, and schools.ā€

The GRIT Program is about Getting Ready for Inclusion Today and that is exactly what they stand for. Their mission is to ā€˜[provide] family centred and inclusive learning experiences to support meaningful participation of children with disabilities in home, community, and school.’

GRIT believes that children and families of children with developmental and other disabilities deserve to have the same joyous childhood experiences that other children and their families have. They work towards this by providing support, aid, and programs in communities, classrooms, homes, families, and beyond.Ģż

Why The Grit Program?Ā

As a family run business, family is very important to us here at Mosaic. We are involved in our team members’ lives and aim to provide value to and support the children and families of our team members.Ģż

We strongly believe that each child and family deserves to feel included and supported in the communities, schools, and homes that they are in. When we heard that GRIT was celebrating their 40th Anniversary, we knew that we wanted to support them with our May Charity Day and provide them with a donation to go towards their cause.Ģż

Our goal in supporting them is to contribute to a community that is more inclusive of and more supportive to families and children with developmental and other disabilities. The GRIT Program is an incredible organization and we’re thrilled to be able to support them this month. But, we can’t do it without your help tomorrow!Ģż

Want to Suggest a Charity?Ā

We are always taking new suggestions for charities and organizations that we can support in the coming months. We have no plans of stopping our Charity of the Month program or community investments in the future and would love to hear about any other parts of our community that we can contribute to.Ģż

If you’d like to recommend a charity or organization here in Edmonton and the surrounding areas, please feel free to contact our team by filling out the form on our Community Investments page.

Thank you for reading and happy (almost) Charity Day! Let’s make it a big one and give as big a donation as we can do The GRIT Program!Ģż

It’s March 30th and you know what that means… Charity Day is tomorrow! Here at Ćå±±½ūµŲ Service, we love Charity Day. If you haven’t heard of it before, here’s a little run down. Essentially, every last Thursday of the month, our Group of Companies donates 5% of that day’s sales to a local charity of our choice. All eight of our companies work hard to be able to make the biggest donation and, therefore, the biggest difference possible. Since our Charity of the Month program started in February of 2021, we have had the chance to work with incredible local charities such as Kids with Cancer Society, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, Lois Hole Hospital Women’s Society, the Pride Center of Edmonton, Hope Mission, Autism Edmonton, and more.Ģż

Here at the Ćå±±½ūµŲ Group of Companies, we believe in giving back to the community that continues to support us. Our Charity of the Month program allows us the opportunity to do so every single month. Charity Day is a company-wide favorite day of the month. From the moment we all step into the office to the moment we leave for the day, the office is buzzing with excitement. Each month, we work hard to make as many sales as possible on Charity Day so that we can make the biggest donation possible to our chosen charity.Ģż

Sage Seniors Association
Sage Seniors Association

This month, for our March Charity of the Month, we have the pleasure of working with !Ģż

Sage Seniors Association is based in Edmonton, AB and their mission is ā€œā€ With a vision of ā€œa community where all seniors are valued and have the opportunity to live according to their beliefs, abilities, and aspirations,ā€ Sage aims to empower and support seniors in our community. Through the services and information that Sage Seniors Association provides to Edmonton and area seniors, they help seniors to learn, socialize, participate and stay safe in the community, and they also advocate on issues affecting older persons.Ģż

Here at the Ćå±±½ūµŲ Group of Companies, we greatly value and support the seniors in our communities. We are very grateful for what Sage Seniors Society does in our community each day. We are privileged to be able to serve many seniors in our communities through many of our brands and are therefore very honored to be able to support the Sage Seniors Association this upcoming Charity Day.Ģż

Happy seniors!

Our team is so grateful to get to work with such an amazing local association tomorrow, March 31st. We encourage you to purchase products and services from our brands tomorrow so that we can make the biggest difference in our community and provide Sage with the largest donation possible. Together, we can make a difference for Sage and can help promote better, more fulfilling lives for the seniors here in the Edmonton community.Ģż

Edmonton, thank you for your continued support and thank you for helping us make a difference in our community every month through our Charity of the Month program. We would not be able to make these monthly donations without your help.Ģż

If you have a local charity that you’d like to see us support through our next Charity Day, please reach out to us by filling out the form on our Community Investments page. Thank you for reading about our March Charity of the Month and we’ll see you on April 27th for our next charity announcement!
